Durable pigeon ever comes from our country: Vlaming sells price bounty for record amount

Durable pigeon ever comes from our country: Vlaming sells price bounty for record amount
PHOTO: PIPA.BE

In the pigeon world, the records slip on the conveyor belt. A few months ago, a South African lover bought another Flemish pigeon for 360,000 euros. Now the Chinese Cheese is still a bit above. He paid 400,000 euros for Nadine, Nadine, from a

breeder Willy Daniëls (68). “That money was welcome. I just

my house. “

Durable pigeon ever comes from our country: Vlaming sells price bounty for record amount
The Chinese pigeon collector Kaier who dropped 400,000 euros for the Flemish pigeon Nadine. Photo: Pipa.be

“It’s a bit of pain in the heart, but I could sell nothing but Nadine,” says pigeon milk Willy Daniëls. “My sleeve was pulled very hard on all sides. Everyone knew that I had an absolute topsider here. Far to far abroad. Nadine was holding on for longer, was dangerous. I was afraid of theft. Now she’s gone, I’m still a bit smarter. ”

Beautiful Flemish villa

400,000 euros have been paid for Nadine. For that money you buy a beautiful Flemish villa. How can a dove be worth as much? Nadine won this year the title of national champion at the yearlings on the half-fund. That’s eight games about distances from 300 to 500 kilometers. The best four results count towards the final win. But is she worth so much money?

According to Willy Daniëls though. “Nadine is particularly fond of her stamina. But she got even worse because her full sister last season became national champions too. I’m already breeding pigeons in 1980, but two sisters who become national champions one after the other, I’ve never seen before. ”

That element also attracted international attention. Rich foreign pigeon lovers sent their experts to the Willy Daniëls til till Nadine from nearby. The Chinese pigeon collector Xing Wei, in pigeons better known as Kaier, came to Kessel in tallest person. He made the highest bid: 400,000 euros. He will grow in China with Nadine.

As in the football

Nikolaas Gyselbrecht of the pigeon auction site Pipa explains why so much is offered on our Flemish pigeons today: “It’s like in football. Again, the record amounts are falling. The pigeon sport has become international. In South Africa, Zimbabwe, Taiwan, but also in Portugal, prestigious pigeon games are now being organized. There is more and more money to earn. So you can get better with the best pigeons. Belgium is still the mecca of pigeon sport. So the rich buyers come here. ”

Cost at home

Willy Daniëls, who sold Nadine, is pleased with his 400,000 euros. “That money is welcome. I just had to pay to my house. But I keep playing the pigeons, “says the retired diamond worker.

A while ago there were reports about a Belgian pigeon Mister Fantastic, who would have sold 500,000 euros to a Chinese broker. “But that does not matter. That was fake news, “says realtor Geert Declercq.
